MERLOT Personal Collection-MAN

I use this personal collection in my teaching at Northern Virginia Community College, Alexandria, Virginia. MERLOT helps my students come out of their textbooks and discover more about la Francophonie.

Below is the link to my personal collection on LEGO Robotics and underwater Robot building. Considering the massive resources on MERLOT, there were only four materials that was related to LEGO Robotics and just 1 on Remotely Operated Vehicles but it was an open textbook that makes it really interesting and useful. The book is something I am really looking into using in my Marine Engineering course that I am teaching this year.

My personal collection is a highlight of Algebra I and Geometry resources that are helpful for instructional support. These web sites and study guides are great tools for students in any Middle or High School Algebra I or Geometry classes. These resources can also be supported for teachers as they design their weekly lesson plans.  Students, will find these resources very beneficial.

In my personal collection, one of the folders that I created consists of materials that I intend to use for my Chemistry classes. It is great to have these teaching tools that present the topics beyond textbook presentations. I personally like the animations/simulations and interactive features of the materials. It makes the learners see what actually happens in concepts  that are otherwise difficult to explain by merely describing in words. My personal collection has various simulations and learning tools that help students master difficult concepts encountered in high school chemistry.  I love how the simulations show students what is happening on a molecular level and how some of the materials allows students to do practice problems such as figuring out the electron configuration of atoms and receive instant feedback. I have already used some of these resources in my own classroom and the students enjoyed it. I am going to incorporate these resources in my curriculum from now.

Below is the link to my personal collection on Hypothesis test for the mean. This Java applet tutorial prompts the user to input the components of a hypothesis test for the mean.Hints are provided whenever the user enters an incorrect value. Once the steps are completed and the user has chosen the conclusion for accepting or rejecting the null hypothesis, a statement summarizing the conclusion is displayed. Also a description on one-tailed and two-tailed tests is provided.

This collection helps in my course work  in Statistics and I find it very beneficial.

My personal collection consists of materials about calculus such as limits, differentiation, and integration. These materials are good for an instructor and a student in calculus class in higher education.
